A court in Dhaka has granted police custody of the owners of the building, where the deadly Feb 20 Chawkbazar fire believed to be originated.
Md Hasan and his brother Md Sohel has been remanded for seven days each on Monday (Apr 8), when they were produced before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury.
On Apr 2, the siblings, who inherited the building Wahed Mansion from their father, surrendered before a court after the term of their anticipatory bail granted by the High Court expired.
The court sent them to jail after rejecting their bail petitions.
The fast-moving fire, which raged through the night of Feb 20 unleashed havoc across five buildings at Chawkbazar’s Churihatta, killed 71 people and injured dozens.
