Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC) is in a meeting with 26 jute mill labour leaders in a bid to resolve the ongoing labour unrest.
The meeting, being presided over by BJMC Director Delwar Hossain began at 11 am at the BJMC offices in Motijheel on Saturday (Apr 6).
On Apr 2, the jute mill workers of nine state-owned jute mills across Jashore, and several other districts in Bangladesh called a 72-hour strike to press home their demands for unpaid wages and other benefits.
The protesters observed the strike demanding a wage commission, the immediate payment of due gratuities, and a provident fund. The strike ended at 6am on Friday (Apr 5)
