A total of 106 Upazilas went to polls on Sunday (Mar 31) in the fourth phase with the voter turnout standing at 36.5 percent, according to figures from the Election Commission.
Out of the nearly 16.6 million voters, a little over 6 million exercised their franchises.
The lowest turnout of 13.5 percent was in Feni Sadar Upazila, where EVMs were used at all polling stations, while the highest number of voters cast their ballots at Fakirhat in Bagerhat – 70.82 percent.
The turnout in the first phase of the elections was 43.32 percent, which dropped to 41.25 percent in the second phase. In the third phase, it further dropped to 41.41 percent.
The staggered elections to the local government body are under way amid boycott by the BNP and most other political parties.
