Separate probe committees formed by the government to investigate the deadly fire in Banani’s FR Tower have begun with speaking with survivors for their accounts of the horrific incident.
The public hearing began at 10am on Sunday (Mar 31) at the makeshift control room of Banani police station. The hearing was organised by the fire service, police, the six-member probe body formed by Home Ministry, and nine-member body formed by the ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
“Members of two probe bodies are hearing testimonies of the survivors and witnesses. The main objective of the hearing is to identify the cause of fire,” Additional Secretary Md Faizur Rahman, head of the nine-member probe body formed by Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, told Bangla Tribune.
This hearing will also give us insights into the real-time experience of victims and survivors. Their accounts will help us to come up with practicable recommendations for future cases, he added.
