Banani fire rescue called off

Rescue work has been called off at Banani’s high-rise building in Dhaka where a blaze killed at least 25 people with handing over the building to police.
“We have finished our works. However, several firefighter units will remain stationed to check the development,” said Station Manager of Fire Services and Civil Defence Shajahan Shikar.
He said no one dead or alive was found during the Friday’s (Mar 29) rescue.
Fire Services then handed over the building to local Banani police at around 3pm in presence of the high officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Division.
Later, representative from different companies, which have offices there, visited the building
A DMP official said police accompanied them inside the building and they then took their important documents and we have kept a list of it.
Police remain posted on the building’s both entrances, he added.
As the police took over the building, now as many as 21 teams will start working for a probe.
Each team comprising of a sub inspector, assistant sub inspector and nine policemen will carry out investigation.
On Thursday (Mar 28) a deadly fire broke out on the ninth floor of the multi storied FR Tower at Banani.
Over 20 firefighting worked for over six hours to douse the fire that has claimed 19 lives and injured scores.
