Seven Bangladeshis still missing after NZ shootings

REUTERSAt least seven Bangladeshi nationals are still missing following Friday’s (Mar 15) New Zealand mosque shootings which claimed 49 lives.
Two other Bangladeshis, including a woman, are in critical condition with bullet wounds.
Bullet pierced through the woman’s body hitting her at the ribs and tearing through the back while the other person’s bullet hit leg had to be amputated, Honorary Consul in Bangladesh Shafiqur Rahman told Bangla Tribune on Saturday (Mar 16).
“Families of seven Bangladeshis have failed to reach them, who were present at the scene during the shootings,” he said before adding, “we fear they were also killed’
Rahman also said that the New Zealand authorities haven’t officially disclosed the identities of the victims as they are probing the crime scene.
“We are hoping to know more details by Saturday,” he said.
Speaking about another Bangladeshi, who was thought to be dead, Rahman said, “We heard on Friday that Dr Samad’s wife was killed in the incident. However, she is still alive. I talked with her.”
She also told the diplomat that his husband’s death has not been officially informed by the New Zealand authority.
A gunman killed 49 people during Friday prayers at two mosques in New Zealand’s Christchurch.
