Authorities at the Dhaka airport have detained a man before handing over to the police for entering with an undeclared firearm.

On Monday (Mar 11), one Mehedi Masud Chowdhury entered the airport with a gun and seven rounds of ammunition, said Nur Siddiqui, a director of Aviation Security at the Shahjalal International Airport.

Chowhdury, the chairman of Joynagar Union council of Jashore’s Chowgacha Upazila, also serves as the president of upazila unit of Juba League, the Awami League’s youth affiliate.

“He entered the airport without declaring that he was carrying a firearm. He failed to provide a plausible explanation after security personnel found a gun on him. He has been handed over to the police after a case was started,” Siddiqui told Bangla Tribune.
