Voting for the DUCSU polls at the Dhaka University’s Begum Ruqayyah Hall has been suspended.
The voting was suspended around 11am Monday (Mar 11), Hall Provost Dr Zeenat Huda told the media.
According to a Chhatra Union member candidate ballot boxes were missing at three of the nine polling booth set up for the polls.
“I saw one stuffed ballot box under a table,” the candidate was quoted by Dhaka Tribune as saying.
The Chhatra Union member also claimed that they were forced out of the room.
Students were seen protesting and chanting slogans at the Ruqayyah Hall.
The much-awaited DUCSU and hall union polls are being held after 28 year hiatus.
The last DUCSU election was held in 1990.
