BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, facing arrest warrants in four cases, is returning home today (18 October) afternoon completing her over a three-month visit to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
BNP sources said she will pass busy hours from tomorrow (Thursday). Tomorrow she will go to appear in the court temporarily set up in the field of Old Dhaka's Aliya Madrasa. Later she will sit with her party leaders to fix the working strategy of BNP. Besides, she may sit for meetings with leaders of The BNP-led 20-party alliance.
As four arrest warrants have been issued against Khaleda Zia, she will try to solve these issues as soon as possible. At least she will take updates of the cases from the party lawyers. In this case, an advice meeting may hold in the beginning of the next week.
BNP chairperson's media wing officer Shayrul Kabir Khan said that after returning from London BNP chairperson will go to her home. Then she may go to court. Her next work plans will be informed in step-by-step.
Standing Committee member Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar told the Bangla Tribune, 'Khaleda Zia will take rest after returning from London. After this, she may call a standing Committee meeting to fix the next work plan.’
On Tuesday (October 17th), Barrister Moudud Ahmed said, 'Madam will come and the following day she will go to court.'
BNP Joint Secretary General Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan told the Bangla Tribune, ‘Madam will face legal issues after returning home. After that, she will fix the next working plan of the party.’
Party sources said as she may go to the party office on 21 October if her health condition supports.
Several sources of the BNP chairperson’s office said Khaleda Zia may call on a meeting of BNP Standing Committee to discuss on supportive government, political situation, crisis regarding Chief Justice Issue, Rohingya issue etc. This meeting may hold within next week.
Party sources said that returning to Khaleda Zia, senior leaders of the party can go to Gulshan's residence. There she will take a report on the current condition of the party from Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing Committee members Dr. Kh Mosharraf Hossain and Barrister Moudud Ahmed.
Another source of BNP said that Khaleda Zia will take a decision regarding the three vacant posts in the standing committee and instruct to make a committee of the Chatra Dal. Above all, she will finalize the position of BNP regarding ‘supportive government’ after discussing with the experts, economists and pro BNP intellectuals.
Multiple sources said, Khaleda Zia after returning to Dhaka she will sit with the Foreign Wing of BNP to discuss on the advancement of the possible meeting with Sushma Swaraj, Indian Minister of External Affairs.
However, several leaders of BNP denied commenting on the specific work schedule of Khaleda Zia, as it is her authority to fix the schedule as the party chairperson. They said they would work according to the given instructions.
