The physicians had advised Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader to get admitted at the hospital in December of last year, said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua.
“Obaidul Quader was here (BSMMU) on Dec 20. His examination revealed that his diabetes was not in control,” Barua said while briefing the media about Quader’s condition.
“We advised him to get admitted but he said that he will do so after the Dec 30 polls but didn’t” he added.
Quader, who also served as the ruling Awami League’s general secretary was admitted at BSMMU on Sunday (Mar 3) after he was facing difficulties breathing.
After an angiogram, doctors found three artery blockages and put a stent in one of them.
Quader is being flown to Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital at the recommendation of noted Indian Cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty.
