The nation will observe a one-minute blackout on the night of Mar 25 in memory of the martyrs of the genocide carried out by the Pakistani Army on the “Black Night” of Mar 25, 1971, says Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“Key Point Installations (KPI) and motor vehicles will remain out of one-minute blackout programme from 9:00pm to 9:01pm on Mar 25,” he told the media on Sunday (Mar 3).
The minister was briefing the media after a coordination meeting on maintaining law and order and taking safety measures during this year’s celebration of National Genocide Day (Mar 25) and National Independence Day (Mar 26).
Kamal said, “Ample safety measures will be taken to ensure maximum security to President, Prime Minister, cabinet members, and diplomat crops from different foreign missions in Dhaka when they will pay homage on National Memorial Monument at Savar.”
Besides, special arrangement will be taken for the diplomats for their travel from the city’s Gulshan to Savar on Mar 25.
Security measures will be heightened in the diplomatic zones apart from augmenting the security and surveillance system on all the KPIs, asserted the minister.
Kamal said naval police will be deployed under all the bridges and nearby rivers stretching from Dhaka to Savar.
Building archway on the road leading to the National Memorial Monument from Dhaka will remain proscribed, he added,
Special meals will be served in all hospitals, prisons, old homes, safe homes, public shelter cares and day-care centers on Mar 26, the minister informed.
