Muktamoni who was suffering from tumour developed in her blood vessels died at her home at Kamar Baisha village in Satkhira Sadar upazila Wednesday morning.
Her father Ibrahim Hossain confirmed that she breathed her last at around 8am today.
She was suffering from high fever for the last couple days and her condition deteriorated Tuesday.
A news item ‘Doctors don’t know what is the disease of Moktamoni’ was published in Bangla Tribune last year and it caught the attention of many people who extended their hands and later Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that she would bear the all the medical expenses.
She admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on July 11 and later diagnosis showed that she had tumour in blood vessels and got treatment in Dhaka till December 22.
Sathikha Sadar hospital junior consultant Dr Md Hafiz Ullah said, “The general condition of Muktamoni was very critical. She was diagnosed with anaemia and suffering from high fever when we first saw her. She was not taking any food and we advised to take her to Dhaka.”
Muktamoni went back to Satkhira last December after she had undergone an operation on tumour in her right hand which was abnormally large.
