Abdur Rahman BodiHome Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the police have complaints against lawmaker Abdur Rahman Badi but they don’t have any proof.
He was speaking with journalists at his secretariat office Tuesday about the ongoing drug war in which dozens of alleged drug peddlers were killed by the law enforcing agencies in the last couple of days.
The minister said, “We have complaints against lawmaker Badi. We are looking into those. If you have information about Badi or any other drug dealers, give it to us. We have complaint against Badi but we don’t have any proof.”
Badi, a lawmaker in Cox’s Bazar district, is perceived as one of the biggest yaba smugglers in the country.
The minister claimed that no crossfire has occurred in the country, rather it is a shootout.
He said the law enforcing agencies resorted to shoot out to save their lives.
“The police have a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and we will not give any concession to drug dealers,” he said.
The minister said the police did not arrest any small fry, rather the arrestees are the top drug dealers.
