BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s 10-year jail term for embezzling foreign donations made to Zia Orphanage Trust was a fair verdict, commented Law Minister Anisul Huq.
He said that no matter how small the amount, for a former prime minister, corruption of any scale is punishable.
His remarks came during a discussion program on Sunday (Feb 17) at the National Press Club.
“Corruption cannot be allowed in this country anymore,” he said, adding that graft will soon go down once everything is digitalised.
Saying that corruption has gone down under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, the minister added, “There will be no compromise with corruption.”
