The loan or credit provided by the development partners for the construction of Bangabandhu Bridge will be paid off by 2034, says Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader.
As many as Tk 49.88 billion has been realized as toll from the bridge in the last twenty years till 2018 since its operation in 1998, he told the House on Monday (Feb 4) in response to a question by lawmaker M Mamunur Rashid Kiron of Noakhali-3 constituency.
On the other hand, the construction cost of the bridge was Tk 37.46 billion.
The amount which is being realized as the toll is being used for repayment of the loan provided by development partners and other overall costs of the bridge authority including maintenance cost of the bridge, said Quader.
