Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is addressing the nation on Friday (Jan 25).

She started delivering her speech at 7.30pm, which is being broadcast simultaneously by Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

The private TV channels and radio stations are broadcasting the speech.

This is Hasina’s first address to the nation after forming the government for the third straight term following the Awami League-led Grand Alliance’s landslide win in 11th parliamentary election on Dec 30 last year.

The Awami League came to power on Dec 29, 2008 after winning the ninth parliamentary election.

On Jan 12, 2014, the Awami League government, led by Prime Minister Hasina, took office for the second consecutive term after winning the 10th national polls held on Jan 5 that year.
