Rohingyas are now coming to Bangladesh from India and Saudi Arabia; already, around 1500 Rohingyas crossed over from India and took refuge at the Kutupalong Rohingya Camp in Cox’s Bazar. These Rohingyas, who come to Bangladesh with the help of middlemen, claim that in India, Rohingyas are being identified and detained.
Meanwhile, alleging that many Rohingyas are carrying Bangladeshi passports, Saudi Arabia is pushing people to Bangladesh.
At present in 32 camps in Ukhia and Teknaf, around 1.19 million Rohingyas are living. Recently, Saudia Arabia sent back 13 Rohingyas, who had been staying in Saudi Arabia for 5 to 7 years. It’s believed that another 150 will be sent back.
Also, many Rohingyas living in UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Australia, Malaysia and Canada are trying to come to relatives residing in Bangladesh camps.
Many Rohingyas who had lived in different Indian refugee camps are coming to Bangladesh at night with the help from middlemen.
They say that they came to Bangladesh after hearing that Indian government was forcefully sending Rohingyas to Rakhine in Myanmar.
Several Rohingyas from India say that recently, the Indian government started to make a list of Rohingyas, reportedly to send back to Myanmar.
UNO of Ukhia, Md Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury, said, “Rohingyas from India have been kept at a transit camp by the TV centre under UNHCR supervision.”
Around forty thousand Rohingyas took refuge in different states of India to flee persecution, and in the last few months, several Rohingyas were sent back in stages. Also, many Rohingyas have reportedly been rounded up in India.
