Her remarks came while addressing a program at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh on Thursday (Jan 10) to commemorate Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman deeply loved the people of Bangladesh and spent his whole life struggling to establish their rights, she said.
Bangabandhu returned to an independent Bangladesh on Jan 10 via London and New Delhi on in 1972 after 290 days of captivity in Pakistan.
In his Homecoming speech Bangabandhu outlined how a young, independent nation will run, Hasina said.
“He established an administrative structure in a very short time and graduated Bangladesh into a least developed country.”
Saying that if he was alive, Bangladesh would have been turned into a developed country, she added that her government wants to build a golden Bangladesh that was Bangabandhu’s dream.
She said that the people must not forget his contribution and the great sacrifice that he made for the country.
