Newly appointed Cabinet member Zunaid Ahmed Palak was thrown into the spotlight the very first day of office after he posted a picture of himself going to office on bike without a helmet.
“First day of office on a bike,” read the caption of the photos that he posted on social media platform Facebook on Tuesday (Jan 8).
Soon after the photos were posted from his verified page, the comment section was stormed by comments such as, “Nobody is above the law. Respected minister please wear a helmet next time.”
Bangla Tribune had been able to reach the state minister for ICT on phone who said that he was due at the ICT Division for a meeting and since he got stuck in traffic at Agargaon, he hitched a ride on the bike.
“It was my new year’s resolution that I will not waste time and always be punctual. Hence I took the bike to the office,” he said.
Responding to queries about the helmet, he said, that the biker did not have an extra one.
Junayed Ahmed Palak took the oath of office with the rest of the Cabinet on Tuesday. He has been handed with the state minister’s portfolio for the Department of Information and Communication Technology for the second time in a row.
