Whole world found polls successful: CEC

His remarks came on Thursday (Jan 3) during at ‘Thanks Giving Ceremony’ for Commission officials at its Agargaon offices in Dhaka.
“Not a single country or organisation across the globe made a negative comment over our election. It is our victory,” Huda said.
He extended special thanks to all staff and officers of the Commission for playing a challenging role in holding the December 30 general election in a successful manner.
“The current year will be challenging for us and it will be nice too. Whatever job appears before us will have to be faced with a challenge,” added the CEC.
The election was not only a challenge for the government, but also for the entire world, Huda said before adding: “Did you see comments have started coming from different corners across the world describing the election as successful?”
“The message of holding a free and fair election has reached every nook and corner across the world and no one rejected the polls,” he claimed.
Addressing the event, Huda hinted at holding the Upazila Council election this year and urged officials to be prepared.
Holding national election in Bangladesh a tough job, the Huda said before adding national elections are not held within a day in all the countries across the world but in Bangladesh, a total of 104 million people cast their votes in a day and results of the are published at the same time.
“We have dealt with the tough job and made it successful. We vested the fruit of our labour to the political leadership and it is their responsibility to take the country forward,” the CEC said.
