Former Indian Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has congratulated Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her party’s absolute victory in the 11th Parliamentary Elections.
On Wednesday (Jan 2), Sonia greeted Hasina over the phone, PM’s press wing sources said.

“The Indian Congress Party leader sent a message to the prime minister greeting her, Bangladesh Awami League and the people of Bangladesh on securing her party’s landslide victory in Sunday’s national polls,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.
Sonia Gandhi also wished success of the prime minister as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh, he said.

The Awami League won a third straight term in office with 259 seats in the Dec 30 polls.
