The National Textbook Festival will be celebrated at all primary and secondary level educational institutions across the country on Tuesday (Jan 1).

As many as 352,197,882 free textbooks would be distributed among 42,619,865 primary and secondary level students across the country in the academic year 2019.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the book distribution programme on Dec 24.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will formally inaugurate the textbook distribution festival at 9.30am at Azimpur Government Girls’ School and College in Dhaka as part of the nationwide programme.

Ministry of Primary and Mass Education will celebrate a separate programme ‘Book Festival Day’ at central sports ground of Dhaka University at 9am.

“All preparations for distribution of free textbooks have been completed….. We have been able to send textbooks to all schools across the country,” said National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) chairman Prof Narayan Chandra Saha.
