Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday (Dec 31) phoned Bangladesh Premier and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina and congratulated her on her party’s landslide victory in the 11th Parliamentary Elections.

“The Palestine president phoned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at about 6 pm and congratulated her, the Awami League and the people of Bangladesh on securing her party’s absolute majority in the national elections held on Sunday,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

During the seven-minute conversation, he said, the prime minister also greeted president Mahmoud Abbas and the people of Palestine.

Sheikh Hasina reiterated that Bangladesh will continue its support to the cause of Palestine and will always stand by its people.

The Palestine president invited Sheikh Hasina to visit Palestine, the press secretary said, adding that the prime minister also reciprocated the invitation.
