The Election Commission says it’s “totally satisfied” over the 11th National Election, which saw a voter turnout of 80 percent.
Briefing the media on Monday (Dec 31), a day after the voting, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said, “The whole Commission is pleased. No one in the Commission said anything to me over their dissatisfaction.”
Dismissing Jatiya Oikya Front’s allegations of widespread rigging, he said, “There’s no scope for a fresh election.”

The CEC said that the voting was largely peaceful while he expressed sadness at 17 deaths reported on polls day.

“The voting took place in a festive mood,” the CEC said, adding, “People voted with enthusiasm.”

Ballots were cast in 299 of 300 parliamentary races on Sunday.

The results for 298 seats have been announced as results for Brahmanbaria-2 have been suspended pending a re-voting at three polling centres.

When asked on allegations from the opposition, CEC said, “We haven’t heard or seen any irregularities.
