‘Polls were fair and peaceful’

Foreign observers from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Canada speak at a program 'Meet the Press' organized by SAARC Human Rights Foundation on Monday (Dec 31).Seven foreign observers have termed the 11th National Election to be free and peaceful.
Foreign observers from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka expressed their opinions regarding the Dec 30 polls, during SAARC Human Rights Foundation’s program ‘Meet the Press’ on Monday (Dec 31).
“The elections here were similar to the kind we have in India,” said Goutam Ghosh, a foreign observer from India.
Meanwhile, former president of Kolkata Press Club, Kamal Bhattacharya said that a delegation of theirs observed the polling centres from 8 am too 9 pm and the election was free and fair.
Former Nepalese minister Hakikullah Muslim said, “The situation at the polling stations was peaceful.”
Muslim’s statement was backed up by Nepalese observers Mohammad Ali and Nazir Mia, Sri Lankan observer Mohammad Hassan Iqbal and Canada’s Taniya Dewan Foster.
