Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed has claimed that the 11th National Election was both participatory and peaceful.
His remarks came during the announcement of the partial outcome of the polls on Sunday (Dec 30).
“Out of the 40,000 centres in 299 constituencies, voting has been suspended in 22 centres,” he said.
Saying that the commission has noted some incidents of violence, he added that the law enforcers have been instructed take steps after investigation.
“Security measures have been put in place so that the presiding officers and other election officials can deliver the results to the returning officers,” he added.
He announced the partial results of five constituencies- Gaibandha-5, Pirozepur-3, Khulna-3 and 2 and Meherpur-1 where Awami League is leading four and Jatiya Party is leading one constituency.
