On Sunday, 30 December, Mirza Fakhrul cast his vote in his Thakurgaon-1 constituency just after eight in the morning. Later, he told journalists: “I saw a long line of voters at the centre and voting is done peacefully; however I have heard that centres in Begunbari and Thakurgaon Government College have been overtaken by Chhatra League thugs.”

After going to Thakurgaon Government College, Mirza Fakhrul only found polling agents in women’s booths.

He told the media: “when they saw the car belonged to me they allowed me to enter.”

Mirza Fakhrul also made a phone complaint to the returning officer, Dr Kamruzzaman.
