The Election Commission says it will be not possible for them to hold voting for the Gazipur City Corporation polls on May 15, even if the court’s stay order is frozen.
Describing the whole scenario as 'critical', Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said on Wednesday, “In my opinion, the May 15 voting was possible if a decision came today.”
His remarks came while speaking to the media in Gazipur, where he visited the local election office and held a meeting with officials of the local administration.
“I don’t think we will be able (to hold the polls) if the court’s decision comes after Thursday. But if the court orders for voting on May 15, we have to do it,” said Huda.
