Girls have outperformed boys in this year’s Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) exams, according to the results published on Monday.
This year, girls secured 11,715 more GPA-5s than the boys.
A total of 2,599,169 eighth graders took this year’s JSC, JDC exams. Among them, 1,192,852 are boys while the rest 1,406,317 are girls.
Compared to last year 71,830 more boys and 114,628 more girls took part in this year’s exams.
In total 213,465 more girls took the exams compared to boys.
This year 1,215,442 girls passed the exams compared to last year’s 1,081,538 which is 133,904 more than that of last year.
Compared to boys this year over 200,000 more boys passed the tests than the girls.
Pass rate of boys stands at 85.12 percent while 86.43 percent girls passed the exams this year.
Pass rate of girls increased to 86.43 percent compared to last year’s 83.73.
Among the boys 28,190 scored GPA-5 which is less than 52,709 in the last year while 39,905 girls secured GPA-5, 70,825 less than last year.
Announcing the full results, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, girls were comparatively ahead in this year’s results.
