The government has declared Dec 30 (Sunday) as a public holiday to enable the voters to cast their ballots in the 11th Parliamentary Election.
A gazette notification was issued to this end, said an official handout.
On Monday (Dec 17), the Election Commission (EC) sent a letter to the Public Administration Ministry requesting to announce Dec 30 as a public holiday.
The public holiday meant for enabling the officers and employees of the government, semi-government, private and autonomous bodies and the teachers, officers and employees of all public and private educational institutions throughout the country to exercise their rights of franchise.
