Election Commissioner (EC) Mahbub Talukder has strongly condemned Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda’s comments on his statement that a level playing field is still lacking in the political arena.
On Tuesday (Dec 18), at a views exchange meeting, the CEC dismissed Mahbub Talukder claims as “his personal opinion which is completely untrue.”
His comment has attacked the sentiments and the very existence of an EC, Talukder said at a media briefing on Wednesday (Dec 19).
“I strongly condemn his comments! He must remember that the CEC and all the election commissioners are equal.”
Talukder said that Nurul Huda had previously made many offensive comments about him but he had let them pass.
“I could not help but protest about his claims that I lied about the absence of a level playing field,” he said.
“That was my answer to a journalist’s question. Now its upto the people and media to determine and ask their conscience whether a level playing field exists or not!”
