Error in polls results may trigger instability: EC

“A simple error on your part may lead to an unstable situation in the country,” he said during a training session on Election Management System (EMS), Candidate Information Management System (CIMS) and Result Management System (RMS) on Wednesday (Dec 19).
He urged the officials to exercise extreme caution while counting the franchises so that the much awaited polls does not turn out to be a “fool’s errand.”
“Take proper training and carry out your duties with utmost responsibility,” he said adding, “It’s your duty to ensure that you publish the correct results.”
He told the officials that it was in their hands to ensure that the results reach the right people and that the country is run by the right people.
“It will be possible to rectify the mistakes of the executive magistrates. But your mistakes are beyond any damage control,” Huda pressed.
He added that the technical people play a vital role in the polls because the results reach the masses through the software
“Ensure fair polls through your expertise, intelligence and eagerness for the slightest of mistake might turn the polls results topsy-turvy.”
Saying that the EC was overwhelmed by the people’s eagerness of the elections and the festive mood in the country, Huda added, “We must not do anything that might cause people to loose faith or ruin the atmosphere of festivity.”
