UNSC emphasizes three issues to solve Rohingya crisis

Rohingya CrisisThe United Nations Security Council has emphasized on ending the violence in the Rakhine state, start immediate Humanitarian Aid Program among the Rohingya and implement the report of the Annan Commission.

In the discussion on Tuesday (September 26th) on the Rohingya issue, members of the Security Council reached a consensus to give priority to these three issues.

On Thursday, members of the Security Council will discuss the solution to the Rohingya crisis.

Before that, on Tuesday, these countries discussed themselves and fixed the next issues. A diplomat staying in New York told this to the Bangla Tribune.

This diplomat said, “Seven countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, gave notice for open discussion on Rohingya. Then Thursday was fixed as the day to discuss this issue.” He further said, “A statement was issued after the discussion on the Rohingya issue in the Security Council in the second week of this month. In the discussion on Thursday, the speech of that statement would be emphasized.”

Meanwhile, a foreign ministry official in Dhaka said, "Foreign Minister will brief 9-members of Security Council on the Rohingya issue on Wednesday. These countries are USA, UK, France, Russia, China, Sweden, Japan, Egypt, and Italy.”

On 13 September, The United Nations Security Council expressed deep concern about violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine state and called to end violence in Rakhine.

In a statement, the 15-member council also expressed concern about reports of excessive violence during the security operations and called for immediate steps to end the violence in Rakhine, de-escalate the situation, re-establish law and order, and ensure the protection of civilians.

In that statement, Bangladesh was praised for helping Rohingya.
