BNP is complaining against the Election Commission (EC) to make the upcoming polls controversial, said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the ICT Adviser to the prime minister.
He made the comment on Monday (Dec 3) in a post in his verified Facebook page.
“... BNP activists conducted thousands of arson attacks throughout the country during 2013 to 2015. They burned to death hundreds of innocent civilians and injured thousands of men, women and even children,” said Joy before adding, “Most of the perpetrators went into hiding or fled the country after that. Now they are crawling back out and returning to participate in the elections.”
“What is the Election Commission supposed to do with these monsters? Let them be free just because we have elections? They don't just belong in prison. They belong on the gallows,” he said.
Talking about BNP’s complain about the disqualification of their candidates, Joy said, “BNP's Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Vice Chairperson Tareq Rahman have both been convicted in court after a decade of trials.
Tareq, a fugitive also convicted for murder and terrorism, has been interviewing their MP candidates from the UK. What can you expect from candidates selected by a criminal?” he asked
Most of their candidates are either criminals or corrupt, with loan defaults, corruption and even murder charges against them. One, Abul Kalam Muhammad Rezaul Karim running in Pirojpur, is a convicted fugitive from British courts!, Joy added.
The prime minister’s son said that BNP does not have 300 clean candidates while Awami League has made it to a point where they have excluded aspirants including sitting MPs who have allegations against them.
Awami Leave decided to exclude those candidates even though they have been acquitted by courts, simply because of public perception. That is what a party which works for people does, said Joy.
A Bangla version of the post was later published on Joy’s facebook page.
