The nameplate of Annisul Huq road, next to city’s Tejgaon truck stand, has been unveiled.
Family members of Annisul unveiled the curtain at a programme in the city on Saturday (Dec 1).
The North City Corporation (DNCC) organised the event on the occasion of the former mayor’s first death anniversary.
After being elected mayor in 2015, Annisul took several initiatives to improve the quality of life in DNCC.
A truck stand grew up on the road between Satrasta intersection to Tejgaon rail crossing, which the administration had failed to recover.
In December 2015, then-mayor Annisul opened the road for city dwellers overpowering a strong opposition from the truck drivers and transport workers.
The move drew overwhelming accolades for the late mayor.
On Jan 28, the DNCC renamed the road stretching from Tejgaon’s Satrasta intersection to Kawran Bazar to “Mayor Annisul Huq Sarak”.
Former mayor Annisul Huq died in a London hospital at the age of 65 on Novem 30, 2017.
Annisul served many roles in his lifetime - television personality, businessman and politician – and excelled in every single one of his endeavours.
