The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the withdrawal of Narayangang’s Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman.

“The decision was taken upon specific allegations against him and a directive has been sent to the Public Security Division of the home ministry,” EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told Bangla Tribune.

On Nov 25, a 20-party Alliance delegation led by LDP chief Oli Ahmed said that Officer Rahman serving as the chief of Narayanganj district police unit is a conflict of interest as his wife is an MP.

SP Rahman, who was transferred from Jashore to Narayanganj in August, is the spouse of Fatema Tuzzahura, the ruling party MP from the women’s reserved seat in Sherpur.
