Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has asked all magistrates to serve during the election by remaining politically honest.
He made the comments while addressing executive magistrates on Nov 25.
There will be immense pressure on presiding officers and it’s your duty to support them and when you cannot support them, you must use your acumen, urged the CEC.
Commissioner Md Rafiqul Islam said, “You have been appointed to maintain peace and discipline and therefore must do it professionally.”
Do not be overzealous or nonchalant, he added.
“The BGB and military will be at your order and you will use their services when needed.”
Commissioner Shahadat Hossain said, “Your role has to be neutral and dispassionate to make the upcoming elections a success.”
Your order will give the permission to the law enforcers to open fire, therefore you must use your judicial mind, he cautioned.
