The Election Commission (EC) has not ensured level playing field for all the parties ahead of the upcoming national election, said Amiruzzaman Pial, an Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate vying to contest from Rangpur-3.

He made the comments on Saturday (Nov 24) after filing his nomination paper to the Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer Kamrul Islam.

“The election commission has failed to create level playing fields. We made a 10-point demand to EC and it didn’t fulfil even one of those demands,” he said.

 Hoping that the EC will take necessary measures to ensure equal opportunity for all parties, Pial said that his party will float candidates from all 300 seats.

Pial is the only candidate so far to file his nomination papers for Rangpur-3, which is also the sadar constituency, said Assistant Returning Officer Kamrul Islam.
