Over 600 new offices to modernize land managementThe government will build as many as 639 new offices across Bangladesh in a bid to modernise the country’s land management system and ensure its service delivery.
“To modernise the country’s land management is a long-lasting demand and the government is working on it. As part of its plan, 139 new upazila land offices and 500 others union offices will be built,” ” Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif told Bangla Tribune.
According to, sources at planning ministry, on Nov 8, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved a project titled “Upazila and Union Land Office Construction (6th Phase),” 1st Revised, for Tk 7.47 billion.
The government will finance the project, which the Public Works Department will implement by June 2020.
Explaining the urgency of blinding new land offices, minister Sherif said, “It becomes difficult to store important documents at the old offices.”
“In some cases, people are not receiving their necessary services, so this project aims to sort out all problems,” he said.
