A general view of the Bangladesh High Commission at 28 Queens Gate, London.Deputy High Commissioner in London Khondker M Talha has been withdrawn and instructed to report to Dhaka by early next week.
Sources at the Bangladesh mission confirmed Bangla Tribune that he has been told to join the foreign ministry by May 7.
Talha was in charge of the high commission on Feb 7, when a group of BNP supporters barged into the premises and vandalised the offices.
The attack came a day before a Dhaka court convicted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia of embezzling foreign donations made to the Zia Orphanage Trust.
The former prime minister is now serving a five-year term at the old jailhouse on Dhaka’s Nazimuddin Road.
During her recent visit to London, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came down hard on mission officials over the attack.
Addressing a reception hosted by the Awami League’s UK chapter on Apr 22, Hasina said, “I don’t who we were there on that day, but my question is, why they couldn’t do anything?”
Bangla Tribune failed to reach Talha for a comment despite several attempts as his phone was found switched off.
