Myanmar envoy summoned over border firing

REUTERS/file photoDhaka has summoned Myanmar Ambassador Lwin Oo to protest the recent shooting at the Bakukhali border in Cox’s Bazar on Nov 4.

The envoy was summoned on Wednesday and handed over a note verbale protesting the incident.

On Nov 4, in broad daylight Myanmar border forces in three occasions fired 41 rounds of ammunitions injuring a Rohingya boy and a Bangladeshi citizen.

The incident takes place amid the countries agreeing to start repatriation of Rohingyas in mid-November.

In the note verbale, Bangladesh expressed its disappointment and urged Myanmar to take immediate actions for not to repeat such incidents and investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
