President Md Abdul Hamid has been sworn in for a second term.
On Tuesday, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered his oath of office in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Former presidents, cabinet members, lawmakers and senior politicians joined the event at the Bangabhaban.
Sworn in as the 21st President of Bangladesh, Hamid has created history by taking presidential responsibility for a second consecutive term.
However, it will be his last as the constitution allows an individual as the head of the state for a maximum of two terms.
On Apr 24, 2013, Hamid was sworn in as the 21st president of Bangladesh.
Since independence, 16 people have headed the state for 19 terms. Hamid is the 17th person to serve as president.
