Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned following an eight-day official visit to Saudi Arabia and the UK.
The Biman Bangladesh aircraft carrying her landed at the Dhaka airport around 10:45am on Monday, Press Secretary to the PM Ihsanul Karim, who was part of the entourage, said.
She left the Heathrow Airport in London Sunday night, seen off by Bangladesh High Commissioner Md Nazmul Quanine.
Hasina flew to the British capital on Monday from Saudi Arabia, where she attended the closing ceremony of the multi-nation ‘Gulf Shield – 1’ military operation in.
In London, the prime minister attended a summit of leaders from Commonwealth nationals and had bilateral talks her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
She also attended a courtesy meeting with British Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May.
In her address to the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government summit, Hasina highlighted the Rohingya crisis and pressed for ensuring their rights in Myanmar.
The Commonwealth leaders, in a joint communiqué, called for justice for the Rohingyas through an independent investigation of the atrocities that have occurred in Myanmar.
Hasina was the keynote speaker at the Commonwealth Women’s Forum as well as at an event on international development and humanitarian issues organised by UK-based think-tank Overseas Development Institute.
She attended the Commonwealth Business Forum meeting on Wednesday and also joined a roundtable discussion with top business leaders led by UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
She then attended a formal dinner hosted by the UK prime minister.
On Thursday she went to Buckingham Palace, where the Queen officially inaugurated of the Commonwealth summit.
She attended three sessions of the Commonwealth summit on Friday and attended a reception hosted by the Awami League’s UK chapter.
Hasina had left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia’s Dammam on Apr 15.
