Thirty one accused in the Aug 21 grenade attack case including Lutfozzaman Babar and Abdus Salam Pintu have been produced before the Speedy Tribunal-1, set up in front of the capital's old central jail.
Earlier around 7am they were brought to the makeshift court's lockup from Kashimpur Central Jail amid tight security.
Fourteen prisoners have been brought from Kasimpur prison 1 and 2 while seventeen were brought from Kasimpur High Security prison.
Of the 31 prisoners are: former state minister for home, Lutfozzaman Babar, former deputy minister Abdus Salam Pintu, former DG of military intelligence, Maj General (retd) Rezzakul Haider Chowdhury, former DG of National Security Intelligence, NSI, Brig Gen (retd) Abdur Rahim, former IG of police, Shahidul Huq, Khodabox and Ashraful Huda, Khaleda Zia’s nephew, Duke, former Dhaka city councilor, Ariful Islam and three former CID officials, Munshi Atiqur Rahman, Abdur Rashid and Ruhul Amin.
There is also a Pakistani national Abdul Majid alias Yusuf Bhatt and leaders of militant bodies.
