Shahbagh blockade to continue sine dieThe protesters demanding reinstatement of freedom fighters' 30 percent quota in class-I and class-II in civil service jobs have announced to continue their demonstration until the government revokes its circular.
Spokesperson of newly formed platform “Muktijuddho Moncho” AKM Jamal Uddin made the announcement on Saturday (Oct 6).
The Moncho leader also urged the protesters across the country to lay siege to the roadway, waterway and airway until their demands are met.
Freedom fighters and their descendants have been demonstrating in the city's Shahbagh area since Oct 3.
Traffic movement remained stuck with vehicular diverting to alternative routes surrounding Shahbagh area.
Incoming patients at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) were the worst sufferers.
Siddikine Sohel, who brought his sick relative to admit at the BSMMU, said “We’ve been trapped in traffic jam for quite some time and our patient is suffering too,
“We don’t know when the vehicle will start to run,” lamented Sohel, who came from Jamalpur district.
