School across the country will have to hold final exams this year between Nov 28 and Dec 11, says Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.
Speaking to the media at his office on Thursday, he said the decision was taken for the upcoming national election.
“Exams will have to be held from Nov 28 to Dec 11 and the results will be published on Dec 30,” he said.
The Election Commission has recently hinted at holding the 11th National Election in the last week of December.
“The schools have been instructed to finish the exams by the first week of December as the election is likely to be held in the last week of the same month,” said Nahid.
According to sources at the education ministry, schedule of all public exams, secondary and higher secondary exams have been sent to the prime minister’s office.
It said that, the public exam for eighth-graders will be held from Nov 1 to 18 while the tests to qualify for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams between Oct 1 and 14.
The test to qualifying for taking the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams will be held from Nov 24 to Dec 3.
