All necessary cooperation will be extended to the Election Commission for holding a free, fair and credible national election, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the Parliament on Wednesday.
“The Constitution says that the Election Commission will independently administer the polls...The funds as per the Commission’s requirement have been allocated as well as measures have been taken to increase its manpower as well as physical infrastructure,” she said while responding to a query by Jashore-2 MP Monirul Islam.
The president appointed the incumbent election commissioner upon recommendations made by a search panel, she said.
“The government expects the commission to take all necessary measures to hold a free, fair and credible election. The government will extend all-out cooperation to the commission so that it can discharge its constitutional duties,” said Hasina.
