Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has found that the law enforcement agencies are the most corrupt sector in the country.
This is revealed by TIB at a press conference held in the city Thursday.
In the conference, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said 89 per cent of the people surveyed, the law enforcement agencies are told to be the most corrupted sector of the country.
In 2017 the graft monitoring agency conducted a countrywide household survey in which people were asked specifically on the ground of barriers for getting public services.
They alleged that no service is provided without bribe from the law enforcers.
The graft watchdog also finds the Passport and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) among other corrupted organizations.
The survey also reveals that people were compelled to pay Tk 5,930 on an average to get expected service in every case.
Gas, judicial services and insurance are the highest three sectors to take bribes, he further added.
