Mayor of Dhaka south, Sayeed Khokon, has said the first jamaat or Eid prayer congregation will be at the national Eidgah on 22 Aug at 8 am.
If the weather is inclement then the first jamaat will be at Baitul Mokarram mosque at 8:30am, he added.
In this regard, orders have been issued to make all preparations. The mayor made the comments while talking to relevant organisations on Tuesday, Aug 14, about the overall security at the national Eidgah.
The mayor also said that after a visit of the national Eidgah on Aug 19 next, the overall situation will be presented to the media the following day, on Aug 20.
Like previous years, there will be separate sitting arrangements for VIP’s in addition to special arrangement to counter light rainfall.
The south city boss also talked about special measures to prevent possible harmful impact of lightning.
The national Edigah will accommodate more than 1 lakh people; there will be special medical teams and arrangements for water, he added.
There will also be facilities for water sewerage and the fire service will be deployed.
The mayor asked WASA to hand out their own mineral water, ‘Shanti’ to the people praying outside the premises of the Eidgah.
It’s found that a fire service team will be in station at the Eidgah from Aug 20, while on Eid Day 25 members will be present.
