Acclaimed singer, Shahnaz Rahmatullas, who passed away on Saturday (Mar 23) night, has been laid to rest at the Banani Graveyard.
She was buried around 2:40pm on Sunday (Mar 24), following her funeral prayers after Juhr prayers.
Her family decided not to wait for her two children, who lives abroad, and proceed with the burial at the earliest.
Shahnaz Rahmatullah’s daughter Nahid Rahmatullah lives in UK’s London, while her son Sayef Rahmatullah stays in Canada.
Speaking about the decision, the singer’s husband Major (Retd) Abul Bashar Rahmatullah said, “One who has passed away, cannot be made to return. Besides, there’s no certain time when our son can come back as it will depend of ticket’s availability. He will attend the Dua program when he returns.”
Bashar, however, didn’t mention whether their only daughter is coming from London.
Shahnaz Rahmatullah breathed her last around 11:30pm Saturday with her husband by her side at their Baridhara residence.
The famous singer was born on Jan 2, 1952. Her musical career kicked off as a radio artist and a playback singer in the movies when she was only 11.
